Overview
Electricity Maps annual datasets are updated once per year, typically in the first two months of the calendar year. This schedule ensures we deliver complete and accurate data for the previous year after all official sources have published their annual reports.
The 2025 dataset will be available on February 15, 2026.
Why the delay?
We depend on official data sources, grid operators, government agencies, and energy authorities, to publish their annual electricity and emissions data for the previous year. These sources follow different reporting schedules, and some take weeks or months to finalize their numbers.
Once all required data is available, we compute carbon intensity, renewable share, and other signals for all zones in our coverage. This computation ensures consistency and accuracy across hundreds of zones worldwide.
Important notes
Real-time and historical data continue to update throughout the year; this schedule applies only to annual static datasets.
Availability per zone varies by signal, granularity, and year. Always check the Coverage page for specifics.
