Overview
To use Electricity Maps with Home Assistant, you need a dedicated Electricity Maps account created specifically for the Home Assistant integration.
This account gives you access to:
The Home Assistant integration only
One zone, e.g. East Denmark or Germany
One API token for use in Home Assistant
How to set up your Home Assistant account
Create your account and go through the onboarding
You should get prompted to activate your Home Assistant license and select a zone.
Make sure you select the actual zone your home is located in, check https://app.electricitymaps.com/map to find your zone
You will be shown an API key that you must copy and paste into the Home Assistant configuration page during setup.
You can always find this key again under app.electricitymaps.com/settings/access
